Enno Littmann-Conference
2012 in Tübingen

 

Dear colleagues,
the next Enno Littmann-Conference will be held from October 9-12 2012 in Tübingen.
It is organised by Tübingen University in collaboration with the German Archaeological Institute (Deutsches Archäologisches Institut) and ORBIS AETHIOPICUS, Society for the Preservation and Promotion of Ethiopian Culture. The great scholar Enno Littmann was professor for Oriental Languages for 30 years (1921 – 1951) at Tübingen.

The main focus of the Conference will be Ethiopia in different aspects.

The preliminary programme is:
Monday, October 8: 13.00 – 18.00 h Registration
Tuesday, October 9 – Friday, October 12: 9.00 – 19.00 h

4 Topics are forseen:
1. Linguistics;
2. Archaeology;
3. History;
4. Relations of Egypt, Sudan, Yemen to the Horn of Africa.
Duration of each lecture: 25 – 30 minutes, followed by discussion.

Please send your registration by e-mail to christian.leitz@uni-tuebingen.de, indicating a preliminary title of your paper and the choosen topic (see above) until January 31, 2012.

Registration fees: 50,- € (students and accompanying persons 25,- €) to be transfered to the following account:

The fees of colleagues coming from Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea and similar could be waved in some cases based on an application to be submitted to the Organising Committee.

The proceedings of the conference will be published in Meroitica.
